Key Purpose
Reporting on and monitoring Discovery Invest’s financial performance through monthly management accounts and annual financial statements. To report relevant, accurate and value-add financial information that supports the decision making process and ensures compliance with accounting standards and regulation, while maintaining and enhancing internal financial controls.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
Financial Reporting
- Compile and review monthly management accounts for submission to Invest Exco.
- Analyze financial performance and deliver actionable insights to support executive decision-making.
- Contribute to the development of Exco and Board reports.
- Prepare and review financial statements and disclosures in line with IFRS and regulatory standards.
- Consolidate financial results for Discovery Unit Trusts and other investment funds.
- Submit financial information via OneStream for Group Finance consolidation and reporting to Holdings Exco.
- Oversee accounts receivable and payable functions across multiple cost centres.
- Monitor daily cash flow and manage liquidity to optimize interest earnings and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain capital adequacy in accordance with CISCA and FSCA regulations.
Budgeting & cost management
- Lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts for income, management expenses, flows, and assets under administration.
- Conduct variance analysis and facilitate regular reviews with cost centre managers.
- Perform cost driver analysis and impact assessments to inform financial strategy.
Asset Reporting
- Prepare asset allocation reports and regulatory submissions including SAM, Statistics South Africa, and ASISA.
- Compile bi-annual IFRS 7 disclosures for consolidated Unit Trusts.
Process improvement
- Provide direct support to the Divisional Manager and CFO.
- Drive enhancements to financial procedures and reporting processes.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure transparency and compliance.

- Investment and long-term insurance product, accounting and regulation knowledge
Education and Experience
- CA(SA) – BCom Hons accounting + completed articles + board exams
- 2+ years post articles experience in accounting/audit role
- Advanced Computer Literacy & MS Excel
- Financial Services Experience (insurance, investment life insurance or banking),
- Knowledge of IFRS 17 will be advantageous
