Key Purpose

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Underwriting Analyst to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide the underwriting team with analytical support as well as automate underwriting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in our underwriting team.

 

Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to

  • Offer analytical support to the underwriting team to ensure compliance with the underwriting philosophy as well as identify any areas of improvement
  • Develop and implement automated underwriting processes to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
  • Analyze existing underwriting workflows to identify areas for automation and process improvement.
  • Refine, enhance, and maintain the multi-claimant process to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of automated underwriting processes, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Generate reports and insights on the effectiveness of automated underwriting processes, presenting findings to senior management.
  • Utilize existing statistical models to refine and enhance underwriting processes, ensuring optimal functionality and accuracy.

 

Skills

  • Modelling skills preferred (Basic)
  • Programming Skills: SQL (Intermediate)
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) (Advanced)

 

Education and Experience

Education:

  • Matric (Essential)
  • Honours degree in Actuarial Science and/or Mathematical Statistics/ Computer Science or Strong mathematical/economics candidate (Essential)
  • Min 5-7 completed CT subjects (Essential)
  • Honors (Advantageous)

 

 Minimum Experience:              

At least 2-3 years Research and Development experience within Insurance industry (Advantageous)
