About Technology Services

The Technology Services division supports the growth of the Product Houses through the provision and management of infrastructure and operating systems required to run the business operations. This service is provided to all local and international participating companies and includes the management of Cloud Services where required. 

Key Purpose

The Cloud Infrastructure Architect designs and oversees the implementation of highly available public and private cloud infrastructure, distributed systems and platform solutions, which lowers operational burden and increases infrastructure and software delivery performance. The Cloud Infrastructure Architect is familiar with DevOps best practice, perpetuates a DevOps culture and increase operational performance through process automation. 

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

• Design and advise on the building of highly available, private and public cloud infrastructure, distributed systems and platform solutions.
• Design and build automated infrastructure using open source tools.
• Design networks and information systems.
• Contribute to architectural oversight, direction and technical strategy
• Contribute to the overall Delivery Automation strategy.
• Advise development teams on the types of workloads that are suitable for public cloud infrastructure, the best use and combination of public cloud Platform/Software as a Service offerings and provide guidance and input into highly available and scalable application architecture best suited for the cloud.

• Good working knowledge of Cloud Native development practices as well as experience with implementing and deploying public cloud solutions (AWS essential and Azure beneficial)
• Knowledge of one or more development and scripting languages (Ideally Java, JavaScript and Python)
• Good working knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker or similar container orchestration technology
• Good working knowledge of infrastructure automation and automation orchestration through tools like Ansible.
• Experience with Development Operations improvement through testing automation, build and deployment pipelines, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, release automation, etc.

• Version Control tools like GIT
• Knowledge of Infrastructure (Virtualisation, Networking, Storage, security, etc.)

Education and Experience

• 2 Years’ experience in an equivalent Cloud Infrastructure Architecture Role
• 5 Years of IT Experience is essential
• Grade 12
• Tertiary Qualification in computer science (preferred)
