About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Data Analyst with a strong technical foundation in data pipeline development and Power BI reporting to join our Data and Analytics team. The successful candidate will support Discovery People and Corporate Shared Services teams by delivering data-driven insights, reports, and dashboards to inform strategic decisions related to workforce planning, employee engagement, space utilisation, and operational efficiency.
This role will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver actionable insights, scalable reporting solutions, and robust data models that power decision-making across the organization.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
- Work with Discovery People and Corporate Shared Services teams to understand reporting needs and deliver accurate, timely, and relevant data analyses.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Excel, and SQL.
- Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines for transforming raw data into clean, analysis-ready datasets.
- Build and optimize Power BI dashboards and reports, including advanced DAX measures and semantic models.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to define data requirements, KPIs, and success metrics.
- Lead initiatives to standardize and automate data ingestion, transformation, and reporting workflows.
- Develop and maintain documentation for data models, pipelines, and reporting standards.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across all analytics assets.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the analytics function.
- Performing requirements and root cause analysis and ensuring solutions meet business needs
and requirements.
- Effectively communicating insights and plans to cross-functional team members and
management.
Competencies
- Proficiency in:
- SQL (complex queries, CTE’s, data aggregation, performance tuning)
- Power BI (building dashboards, using DAX, data modelling)
- Data pipeline tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail and documentation
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling
- Experience working with large and complex datasets across multiple systems
- Strategic thinking with the ability to translate business questions into analytical solutions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Education and Experience
- Matric (Essential)
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, information technology, actuarial science etc.
- 5+ years of experience in a data analyst or analytics engineering role.
- Experience working with sensitive or confidential data and maintaining data privacy standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver analytics projects independently.
Preferred
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, Fabric
- Familiarity with Python, R, or scripting for automation and analysis.
- Exposure to HR, Finance, Operations, or Facilities Management data (domain-specific knowledge is a plus).
- Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices
