Job Purpose
The FinOps Analyst will serve as a link between Finance and Systems teams. This technical individual will be responsible for analysing and managing both our cloud and on-premises systems infrastructure expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, collaborating with systems leads to implement optimizations, and delivering comprehensive reports to both finance and systems to enable cost savings.
Key outputs:
- Assist in setting up FinOps best practices and processes across the Cloud operations and systems teams.
- Regularly analyse our infrastructure consumption, spending, and identifying cost drivers.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and technology teams to identify and drive actionable solutions for cost optimization.
- Provide granular insights into cloud financial operations, helping leaders make informed decisions.
- Create reports and dashboards to track and communicate cloud cost optimization efforts to stakeholders.
- Assisting in determining cost recovery basis and charges and month-end reporting
- Assistance with the budget process and preparing forecasts
- Collating and compiling various documents and information to process monthly journals
- Performing any other related tasks that may be required.
Education:
- Matric
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Finance, or a related field; CIMA; SAIPA; Certified FinOps Practitioner
- Cloud practitioner foundational certification with AWS/Azure/GCP
Experience and Knowledge:
- 1 to 2 years’ experience working in a corporate environment
- Experience in a finance role supporting an IT business
- 1 to 2 years’ experience working in a corporate environment either in IT or Finance working with clients.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing services, including cloud infrastructure, software, and platform as a service (IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS), as well as experience working with major cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Experience in a FinOps role
