Key Purpose


The sourcing, screening and acquisition of key IT staff for multiple business units across Discovery.


Your key areas responsibilities 

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist at Discovery, you will be constantly engaged in finding exceptional talent. You will act as a talent partner to the business and advise them on their hiring needs by building and maintaining good working relationships. Amongst other things, you will be responsible for the overall recruitment process, from identifying the needs to overseeing the offer process for the selected candidate.  



A day in the life of a Talent Acquisition Specialist at Discovery: 

Conducting recruitment briefing meetings with your customers 
Analysing their business needs and translating them into an agreed recruitment approach with the hiring manager, aimed at fulfilling the requirements within time and quality constraints. 


Sourcing and selecting exceptional candidates 
Sourcing and attracting relevant profiles for vacancies at Discovery. Actively sourcing candidates through LinkedIn, and other sourcing channels.

Selecting and interviewing suitable candidates using competency based interviewing techniques, business cases and other ability tests.

Ensuring the proposed candidate(s) are interviewed and evaluated by the business, in line with the agreed recruitment approach.

Ensuring that business needs are met in terms of skills and diversity requirements.


Job-offer and contracting
Managing the offer process for the selected candidate in line with both the agreed remuneration and benefits for the job taking into consideration realistic expectations from the candidate.


Relationship management

Builds strong relationships with clients to ensure a thorough understanding of the business needs and strategy.

Ensures an excellent recruitment experience for candidates and line managers, in line with approved Discovery processes.


Reporting and ad hoc projects

Reports on key recruitment statistics and contributes towards ad hoc talent projects as required.


Talent programmes such as Gradhack

Contribute towards the annual Gradhack event through which graduates are recruited for multiple business units.


About you

A Bachelor Degree (Preferred) combined with at least 3-5 years proven experience within the Information Technology Recruitment field in e.g. a professional and international search & selection agency or within a corporate recruitment environment. We expect you to be a seasoned interviewer coupled with extensive experience in the professional use of social media/LinkedIn as sourcing channels.

The Talent Acquisition Specialist deals with a large variety of activities and different stakeholders, we expect you to be structured, combined with excellent communication and influencing skills that will drive performance and produce great results. 

Additionally, to be successful in this role, you must have: 

  • A solid understanding of complex specialised diverse functional roles
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to proactively engage in constant improvement
  • A Service orientated mind-set is critical
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
