Key Purpose

​​The Human Resource Manager (HRM) is responsible for supporting the needs of business in all human capital matters, including implementing the human capital plans and programmes. The HRM supports and assists the Discovery Insure Non-Operations business in the attraction, development and retention of top talent to deliver on the Discovery Insure’s ambition.

 

Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to:

  • Operationalise and deliver on HR strategy across the people value chain, including recruitment, training and development, retention, performance management, employee engagement, wellness and talent management
  • Be the HR lead for people-related projects in the business
  • Support and drive the talent acquisition strategy
  • Support the Discovery Insure Non-Operations team in establishing and achieving Employment Equity targets
  • Provide performance management support
  • Provide input to the organisational design of the division
  • Facilitate employee relations support and advice in line with central ER processes
  • Ensure that the Discovery culture and values are alive and that employees are engaged
  • Promote employee wellness
  • Provide day-to-day HR support to the division
  • Identify and communicate people trends in various areas

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • A passion for people and people development
  • Knowledge of and exposure to HR systems
  • Understanding of client/contact centre operations
  • Ability to translate strategy into action
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Understands business strategy and dynamics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and continuous change
  • Excellent leadership skills

 

Education and Experience

  • Relevant HR, Industrial Psychology or business-related degree is essential
  • Honors degree is preferred
  • At least 5 years’ HR consultant experience in financial services with exposure to the full employee lifecycle
