Key Purpose

Discovery Stores bring the Discovery brand to life by delivering a tangible, differentiated, and memorable experience for clients. The store network is a strategic asset for the business, playing a critical role in revenue generation, brand engagement, and client conversion.

This role forms part of the Senior Leadership Team within Discovery Stores and is accountable for driving revenue growth, conversion optimisation, and performance improvement across the national store network. The role focuses on leveraging operational and commercial data to generate actionable insights, inform strategic decision-making, and enhance overall store performance.

 

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the store network maximises value from its core revenue streams through data-driven performance diagnostics, commercial analysis, and targeted growth initiatives, translating insight into clear commercial strategies and measurable outcomes.

 

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to:

Commercial Performance Management

    • Monitor and optimise revenue performance across all stores.
    • Track and improve key metrics including:
        • Revenue per store
        • Revenue per consultant
        • Conversion rates across store activities.
    • Identify underperforming areas and implement targeted improvement plans.

 

Data Analytics & Reporting

    • Design and manage dashboards and performance reports for the Discovery Stores network.
    • Translate large datasets into clear insights and recommendations for leadership.
    • Provide regular performance reporting to the Head of Discovery Stores and executive stakeholders.

 

Conversion & Growth Optimisation

    • Identify opportunities to improve conversion from:
        • Health checks to financial product engagement
        • Leads to sales
        • Footfall to engagement.
    • Run structured performance experiments and measure impact.

 

Strategic Support

    • Provide commercial insight to support strategic decision-making.
    • Model revenue scenarios and assist in evaluating new initiatives or store opportunities.
    • Conduct market research to identify areas of opportunity and compile business proposals to support these opportunities.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with:
        • National Operations Manager
        • Regional Store Managers
        • Central Marketing teams
        • Finance and analytics functions
    • Ensure alignment between marketing initiatives and store-level execution.

Education

    • Completed tertiary business-related qualification (NQF 7 or equivalent)
    • Completed honors or master’s level tertiary qualification, MBA (advantageous)

 

Experience

    • 3-5 years’ experience in commercial analytics, business performance, and/or delivering strategy
    • 3 -5 years’ experience in consulting at a consulting firm
    • Experience analysing sales, retail, or multi-site operational data
    • Demonstrated experience in achieving new business growth and sales targets through strategic interventions
    • Experience building dashboards and performance reporting frameworks
    • Experience translating data insights into practical business decisions
