Project Manager Senior (Project CEO Mindset) – Discovery Bank

Discovery Bank is growing rapidly, and we’re looking for a different kind of Project Manager.
Someone smart, forward-thinking, and relentless about delivering high-quality digital solutions.  Someone who thinks and acts like the CEO of every project they lead.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

  • Lead complex, cross-functional banking and technology projects end-to-end
  • Drive clarity, decisions and outcomes across different business areas and partners
  • Anticipate risks and opportunities; proactively unblock delivery
  • Ensure high-quality design, build, testing, and client experience
  • Run SteerCos, engage senior executives, and provide sharp, data-driven updates
  • Own timelines, scope, dependencies, and value delivery
  • Bring innovation, simplicity, and pace to everything you touch

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Discovery systems and business environment.
  • A sound knowledge of project management theory, and the key areas of project management.
  • Ability to grasp concepts of a technical nature quickly, with a sound understanding of the underlying business environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, managing several projects concurrently.
  • The ability to understand the big picture and strategic objectives, displaying organisational sensitivity.
  • The ability to take ownership and display high levels of responsibility and initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills, both formal and informal.
  • Ability to manage people, with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills

Education and Experience

  • A tertiary education (preferably a Degree or Diploma).
  • At 8 to 10 years’ experience in managing projects in a corporate environment with experience in different types of technology related to banking systems.
