Key Purpose of the role  

The primary function of this role is to effectively manage and supervise a team by using standard processes to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the annuity claims departments operations. Develop strategic and operational plans to drive, lead, and represent all projects and key initiatives impacting the division in support of the objectives of the division. Overseeing resource planning and forecasting for the area to ensure optimal functioning. Ensure the team is operating effectively to achieve maximum service delivery and efficiency standards.

 

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to:

  • Daily allocation & monitoring of workflow (Underwriting and Claims).
  • Ensure that daily registers are updated accordingly and correctly for reporting purposes.
  • Onboarding of new schemes, BE & installation FYI communication.
  • Authorize and second assess claims to your limits
  • Technical & training onboarding for new team members (Including setting up access requirements to your limits).
  • On-floor training and upskill new team members and where required.
  • Sign off competency profiles.
  • Facilitate daily stand-up meetings to ensure that address queries efficiently and monitor our SLA re: claims and underwriting.
  • Monitor DPMO, SLA and SPS to derive methods to mitigate this monthly.
  • Assist with complex query resolution and identifying root causes for errors.
  • Participate and lead one project (agreed upon in the team) annually.
  • Lead the process in ensuring that reminders, close case and suspensions are communicated efficiently and timeously.
  • Dealing with escalated calls or queries to ensure high quality.
  • Developing and generating appropriate reporting in respect of your division to the broader business.

Education and Experience

  • NQF Level 6 qualification
  • Intermediate – Advanced proficiency on MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) – Essential
  • Experience specific to Claims & Underwriting.
  • Knowledge of the Group Life Product and process knowledge
  • Claims and Underwriting processing 
  • Minimum 5 years working Employee Benefits-Group Risk experience.
  • 3 – 5 years Knowledge of Group Risk Industry benefit usage and payments.
