Key Purpose of the role

Reviews and evaluates policy applications to determine risk acceptability and coverage, in the form of a Declaration of Health, or standard medical requirements, for group risk members above the free cover limits. May contact applicants or brokers to obtain additional required information and answer questions from applicants regarding underwriting processes and decisions. Works under partial supervision.

 

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

  • Assessment of risk for covers above the free cover limit, through assessment of a Declaration of Health or standard medicals or additional requirements
  • Liaising with members and brokers to obtain required information
  • Providing reasons for underwriting decisions to members and their doctors
  • Liaising with reinsurer for cases above the relevant treaty limits.

Education and Experience

The following requirements are Essential.

  • Grade 12/Industry Related Qualification/Business Related Degree or Diploma                       
  • Competent in allocation of underwriting medicals
